LNG carrier BW Nivalis

BW LNG, part of Singapore headquartered shipping conglomerate BW Group, stated in its social media account that the newbuild LNG carrier BW Nivalis was delivered from Hanwha Ocean’s Okpo Shipyard in South Korea, and commenced her long-term charter with Norwegian multinational energy company Equinor on February 4, 2026.

The LNG carrier BW Nivalis is the first of two sister vessels on long-term charters with Equinor, with the BW Borealis to follow.

BW Nivalis is named after the Latin word for “snow” and she features a design -according to the company- enabling some of the industry’s lowest fuel consumption and emissions.

The vessel has a carrying capacity of 174,000 cbm and is equipped with ME-GI propulsion, a full reliquefication system, shaft generators, and ALS.
