Eli Glickman to step down as ZIM CEO after nine years

ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd. announced that President and Chief Executive Officer Eli Glickman has informed the Board of Directors of his decision to step down.

Glickman will remain in his role during a six-month notice period to support an orderly transition and ensure business continuity until a successor is appointed.

The Board will begin a formal search for a new CEO in the coming weeks.

Glickman said:

“When I joined ZIM nine years ago, I did so after deep deliberation, but with absolute clarity of purpose. I believed in this company, its people, and its potential. With the right strategy, discipline, and courage, we transformed ZIM into a stronger, more innovative, and more resilient global player.

Together, we achieved an extraordinary turnaround, delivering unprecedented results and restoring pride in the ZIM name. This success belongs to our people around the world, whose professionalism and dedication made it possible.

In recent months, the Board promoted a merger process with Hapag-Lloyd. I respect that decision. However, after reflection, I concluded I cannot continue as CEO under these circumstances. Leadership must align with the path ahead.

Throughout my tenure, I remained committed to our employees, especially during a challenging period marked by war. With the transition now underway, I believe this is the right time to step aside.

I will stay fully committed during the notice period to ensure stability and support the company’s next phase. I remain proud of ZIM and grateful to have served alongside such a dedicated team.”
