Imabari Shipbuilding completed delivery of the 40,000-carry weight-ton bulk carrier KITA on March 24. The vessel was built at Imabari Shipyard’s Head Office and Imabari facilities.

Loading Capacity

KITA is an ocean-going bulk carrier with a double-hull, box-shaped hold design and topside tanks. She can carry bulk cargoes, grain, coal, ore, cement, steel coils, and long steel.

Cargo Handling

The vessel has four deck cranes. Each hold has a wide hatch opening with folding-type hatch covers for efficient loading and unloading.

Environmental Features

KITA meets MARPOL and Ballast Water Management Conventions. She is equipped for current and anticipated future carbon emission regulations. The ship includes a ballast water treatment system and complies with the Ship Recycling Convention.

Propulsion and Performance

KITA achieves high propulsion efficiency with energy-saving devices, a high-efficiency propeller, and low-friction hull paint. She can sail at a service speed of approximately 13.75 knots.
