CMA CGM updates freight rates and surcharges

CMA CGM has announced new freight rates and surcharges for major trade lanes. Changes take effect from early April 2026.

FAK Rates: Türkiye, Egypt & Syria → Australia & New Zealand

CMA CGM updates Freight All Kinds (FAK) rates from Turkish, Syrian, and Egyptian Mediterranean ports to Australia and New Zealand.

Key points:

• Effective: April 1, 2026

• Cargo: Dry goods

• Relay via Asia is available.

Sample rates (per container):

• Aliaga → Sydney: USD 1,850 / 3,200

• Lattakia → Sydney: EUR 2,400 / 4,300

• Alexandria → Sydney: USD 3,000 / 5,500

Relay and direct route options are available.

Peak Season Surcharge (PSS): Far East → East Africa

CMA CGM applies a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) on cargo from China to East Africa.

Effective: March 15 – June 14, 2026
Cargo: All dry goods

Example surcharges (USD per container):

• North China → Mombasa: 350 (20′) / 1,300 (40′)

• Dar es Salaam: 750 / 1,200

• Mozambique (Beira, Maputo, Nacala): 850 / 1,500

• Somalia (Mogadishu): 300 / 700

These surcharges reflect seasonal demand and market conditions.

Alternative PSS Levels: Far East → East Africa

CMA CGM also issued alternative PSS levels for the same trade lane.

Example alternative surcharges (USD per container):

• North China → Mombasa: 100 / 800

• Dar es Salaam: 500 / 700

• Mozambique: 600 / 1,000

• Somalia: 50 / 200

Specific contract terms determine which PSS level applies.

FAK Rates: Mediterranean → USA & Canada

CMA CGM updated FAK rates from the Mediterranean to North America.

Effective: April 1, 2026.

Sample rates (USD per container):

• Genoa → New York: 2,750 / 3,600

• Genoa → Montreal: 3,300 / 4,600

• Genoa → Los Angeles: 3,350 / 4,025

• Istanbul → New York: 3,375 / 4,025

• Istanbul → Los Angeles: 4,450 / 5,075

Covered origins: Mediterranean ports including Turkey, Greece, Lebanon, North Africa, and the West Med.
Destinations: US East Coast, US West Coast, Canada.
