Kuehne+Nagel opens new Container Freight Station in Mumbai

Kuehne+Nagel has opened a new 3,500 sqm Container Freight Station (CFS) in Mumbai. The facility strengthens the company’s Sea Logistics operations in India and supports the country’s growing trade volumes.

The new CFS is located near Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), India’s largest seaport. The location offers direct access to a major maritime gateway and enables faster cargo handling and turnaround times.

The built-to-suit facility supports scalable operations and value-added logistics services. It follows strict safety and security standards, with full surveillance systems. It also meets global certifications, including CTPAT, AEO, and ISO.

Sustainability plays a key role in the design. The site uses electric material-handling equipment and solar-powered lighting to reduce emissions and environmental impact.

“Our new CFS enables faster and more connected operations,” said Anish Kumar Jha, Managing Director for Kuehne+Nagel India, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives. “It helps customers move shipments efficiently today while supporting future logistics needs.”

With more than 70% of India’s trade moving by sea, demand for modern port and logistics infrastructure continues to grow. The new facility positions Kuehne+Nagel to better support India’s expanding role in global trade.
