A Russian Project 22800 Karakurt-class missile corvette has been struck near its base in Kaspiysk, Dagestan, during an overnight Ukrainian operation on 7 May 2026, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The vessel was identified as a multi-purpose small missile ship capable of launching Kalibr cruise missiles, which Russia has repeatedly used in strikes against targets in Ukraine.

Ukrainian military officials said the extent of the damage was still being assessed.

The General Staff stated that the strike was carried out in the area of the Kaspiysk naval base in Russia’s Republic of Dagestan, located on the Caspian Sea.

According to the statement, Ukraine’s Defence Forces also struck a Russian command post in Sosnivka in occupied Luhansk Oblast and a UAV command centre near Yasne in Donetsk Oblast during the same operation.

Strikes were also reported on an ammunition depot in Kalmykivka and a fuel and lubricants storage
