The US military carried out strikes on Iran’s Qeshm port and Bandar Abbas on Thursday, according to a senior US official cited by Fox News Chief National Security Correspondent Jennifer Griffin in posts on X.
The official said the strikes do not mean the war has restarted and do not signal the end of the ceasefire announced on April 7.
Jennifer Griffin said the senior US official confirmed that the strikes had taken place “moments ago”.
In another post, she said the official described the operation as limited and said it should not be interpreted as a military escalation in West Asia.
The reported strikes followed multiple explosions near Qeshm port and Bandar Abbas in southern Iran, according to Iranian state media reports.
Iranian state media outlet Press TV reported that an explosion occurred at Bahman Pier in Qeshm during what it described as an exchange of fire between Iranian armed forces and “enemy forces”.
